CLEANUP SCHEDULE /
Spring Clean Up Week is held each year during DC Public Schools spring break, with daily community cleanups across the city. Most take place in Takoma, Manor Park, and Brightwood, with additional cleanups citywide. Each cleanup is hosted by a neighbor, community group, school, or local business. The event page shows the most recent schedule until next year’s is announced.

WHAT TO EXPECT /
We’ll provide everything you need. Hosts and participants get supplies including reusable gloves, trash pickers, and bags, plus snacks and water. Some hosts may add extra goodies, and many cleanups end with a social gathering at a local business to help build community connections.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION /
Cleanups are about more than picking up trash. You’ll connect with neighbors, share resources, and learn how to submit 311 requests for city services. We’ll also track the total number of bags of litter collected — along with other data related to the types of litter — to help us better understand litter in our neighborhoods and how to prevent it.
ALL ARE WELCOME (ESPECIALLY STUDENTS)!
Spring Clean Up Week was created as a fun, easy, and impactful way for students to spend time in service over spring break. Student service hours are available, and cleanups provide a welcoming third space for teens and opportunities for intergenerational connection. Everyone is invited to take part — no special equipment needed, just bring your enthusiasm and we’ll take care of the rest.
